The process is intentionally slow. Most of the work happens before a single sentence is written.
A building is chosen for being typical rather than exceptional. Preference goes to structures that are easy for a reader to picture: a five-storey block on a residential street, a low office building near a transit stop, a retail row along a main road. Age, condition, and visible wear are noted, since they often hint at what was cut from the original budget.
Measurements, photographs, and short notes are gathered from public sidewalks, lobbies, and entries. Nothing requires entering private units or restricted areas. Where a detail cannot be verified from a public vantage point, the installment says so rather than guessing.
Public zoning maps and permit filings, where available, are checked against what was observed on site. This step usually takes longer than the writing itself, since records are not always organized the same way from one municipality to the next.
A simplified diagram is drawn to isolate the single decision the installment is explaining, whether that is a setback line, a stair width, or a structural transfer point. The diagram is deliberately plainer than the photograph so the two can be read side by side.
Before publication, a second contributor, usually Irena for structural claims or Dawid for planning claims, reviews the draft. Wording that overstates certainty is trimmed back, and any unverifiable claim is either removed or clearly marked as an assumption.
